To measure an organization's carbon footprint (or GHG inventory), all emission sources, both direct and indirect, are quantified.

It is possible to classify the emission sources for the company into 3 macro areas (Scope 1,2,3) as determined by the GHG Protocol , or into 6 equivalent categories (according to ISO 14064-1:2018)

In this way, it is possible to divide and understand one's Carbon Footprint into areas of intervention, with the possibility of going deeper down to the level of a single substance.
